Top Ten Favorite “The Nutcracker” Songs (Top Ten #101):

Posted on December 10, 2020December 8, 2020 by Morgan

One of my most treasured Christmas traditions is “The Nutcracker.” I first saw a large city production when I was seven and watching the massive tree grow on stage captured me. I have grown up surrounded by Nutcrackers, stories, films, and other forms of holiday magic, filling me with warmth. The story, the possibility of enchantment, costumes, dancing, the music…it all comes together in an experience I never get tired of.

What makes “The Nutcracker” work so well is the music, how is ensnares you and whisks you into a world of fantasy and belief. Seeing the dances that go with it pulls everything together. While all the music is iconic and a staple of the holidays, I wanted to share my favorite music from this masterpiece. Although, I love all of them and I am mostly focusing on just the music, not the song performances; that would be a different list. LOL!

Top Ten Favorite “The Nutcracker” Music:

  1. Trepek (Russia)

2. The Sugarplum Fairy

3. March

4. Tea (China)

5. The Nutcracker Battles Against The Mouse King’s Army

6. Scene and Waltz of the Snowflakes

7. Coffee (Arbia)

8. Waltz of the Flowers

9. Pas de deux Intrada

10. Mother Ginger (the clown) OR The Overture
